Luz Severino - Monographie
Through an exclusive interview and interpretations of her work by renowned art historians and critics, this bilingual monograph showcases Luz Severino’s finest works and reveals her hopes.
Born in Sabana del Mar, in the Dominican Republic, Luz Severino has lived and worked in Martinique since 2000. Her body of work, spanning more than three decades, flows naturally from painting to sculpture, from drawing to printmaking and large-scale installations. Through her creations, the artist prompts society to reflect on its deepest identity and its relationship with nature… While she does not directly invoke spirituality, her colors, her tendency toward abstraction, and her exploration of verticality evoke this unique connection between earth and sky. This connection has led her, since 1985, to participate in numerous solo and group exhibitions, as well as biennials, throughout the Caribbean, Latin America, the United States, and Europe.
